What I have been working on...

My Sweet Man has been working on the greatest gift for me!  He began over a month ago and while he was working on it ALL of my craft and sewing stuff was put into storage!  Yikes!!!

I must admit I felt rather at a loss with nothing to occupy my hands. I did do a lot of reading. Still, as much as I love Nora Roberts writing style, I have to say that I was really missing my needles and fibers!

So, what is it?

Her we go...
storage shelves
There is soooooo much storage in my new craft room!!!  you can see the task light on the wall above. I can roll my chair over there and stick in lovely natural light during the day or by the light in the evenings.

the closet with more storage
I have a lot of stuff to go onto all of these shelves and into the closet.  I have BIG plans for all of it.

The "Murphy table" in the closed position
This is one of my favorite parts of the room.  I have an idea for attaching a design wall to the "Murphy table" which can be removed when I want to have it down.

"Murphy table" open
Don't ya just luv the amount of space that is on that table?  It is approximately 4 ft by 4 ft.  It is at just the right height for me to use as a cutting table without causing my back to ache!!! No more hunching over my desk to cutt fabric.

Peg board behind the door
Have to get pegboard hooks for this area and get all my scissors and rulers hung up.

Cabinet holding the Surround sound and my printer
All I can say is ...
  STORAGE!!!! STORAGE!!! STORAGE!!!

Oh and I have music in my craft-room!!! must not forget that!!!

My corner desk area with my new all in one computer mounted on the wall.
The walls in the corner under the computer and under the shelf are super awesome!!! They were base coated with metal paint and then were painted with whiteboard paint!!! So AWESOME.

I will be spending a great deal of time in here over the next few months. With Autumn here and Winter just around the corner, I will be holed up in here doing my thing(s) during the day.  So much to organize and so many ideas. I will post pics as I work through all my stuff!!!

Blessed Be...

getting over the embarasment

I started this blog awhile ago so that I could connect with others who love fiber art.  Unfortunately I got into a funk and not much has been done here.  Part of that is because I have not really done any stitching over the last few months and also because I felt that all of my posts should have photos. That was a problem because I had no camera to take the photos.

Well, as I have continued to stumble through Blog Land I have come to see that not every post out there has photos. (Kudos to those who have photos on every post!!) Any whoooo I realize that I need to get  off my fanny and actually take the time to write about what I am doing with my crafts.

As I said there has not been a lot of stitching going on here. I had one major finish in the last few months that you can check out here. Since then I have not really been working on much in the way of fabric arts. I have been busy with getting things around here into something that resembles sanity. (does that ever truly happen?)

That's all for now, Blessed Be!

Blog Hopping again!

So I was hopping again and I found some really fun sites for quilting

First up is Moose Stash Quilting: I love the Quilts!!!!! I would love to some day make a quilt like one of these! Hop over and Check it out. These are what I would term Art Quilts. Just Start scrollig through the pages and you will find yourself drawn in to the loveliness!

The Modern Quilt Guild is almost done with its month of table-runners for March 2012. So many lovely photos and most of them have great tutorials to go along with them. If your looking for a quick project or just some inspiration hop over and check it out.

U-Create is a site JAM PACKED wit awesome tutorials. I am actually planning to try the Notebook Folder tutorial and see how it works out. From sooking at it I think it is fairly clear and will be easy to follow along. We will see how it goes.

I hope someone out there is enjoying these posts about other sites.  If you follw one of them let me know.

Blessed Be

Wimsical Wednesday

Let me introduce Jack, he is ur 6 year old Teacup Yorkie. He weighs in at a full 3 pounds 4 ounces. He has been a member of the family since he was 8 weeks old. Originally he was a graduation gift to my oldest daughter. When she went into the Army I inheirted the pup. He has been an important part of my life since then.

Jack is my "comfort dog". He has helped me through some very rough patches and gives me his unconditional love. He knows when I am getting into a funk and will jump up on my lap for a snuggle and some belly rubs. The only time that he is not by my side is when his daddy is home!

I do not begrudge the SM his time with Jack but I know that there is times when the SM would rather that Jack would attach himself to me. We both affectionately call him "the Tumor"! When the sweet boy decides that it is time to relax he will snuggle up to the SM and not move unless the SM gets up.

Jack is looking a bit rough but only because his snuggle buddy has moved!
Even after a new haircut Jack looks a bit ruffled.

I love this member of my family because he keeps me moving on the days I want to crawl under a rock and is always ready to give his mommy a quick puppy kiss to let me know he loves me, no matter the mood I am in.

I hope you enjoy meeting Jack. I will probably be posting more pics of Jack in the future. I intend to be a better blogger. I have several projects that I am going to be working on.

Happy 2012, a finish and winter blooms

I want to wish everyone a grand and wonderful 2012.

I have not posted in a long time. I have however finished one very special cross stitch project. I can now show it here since I was finally able to gift it to my Sweetie's mom.

I finished "Celtic Noel" designed by Lavander and Lace. I'm not sure of the kind of linenbut it was a 40 count. I stitched it 2 over 2, except the face and hands which I stitched 1 over 1.

I started the cross stitch in July 2011 and finished it the last week of September 2011.

I added the border and bias buinding and maded it into a quilted wall hanging.

I truely enjoyed the stitching of this!

I was pleased and excited to find my Christmas Cactus in bloom this year. Only a few blooms but more than it has ever had before. I love how they look. in bloom!! I hope they will bloom again for me.

I always loved my grand mother's Christmas Cactus. Every year it would be filled with blooms.

Having mine bloom brought back memories of family gatherings at my grandparents home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. The whole family would gather there (well, at least as many as possible). Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, all crammed into my grand parents home. We had anywhere between 20 and 30 people there.

We always had good times when the family got together. I miss those gatherings! At times i really regret the miles that seperate me from the closeness of my family, mostly at the holidays.
